Plants - Natures Air Purifier

Did you know that certain types of household plants can actually clean the air in your home?

There was a study done by NASA on the ability of household plants to clean toxins and chemicals out of the air. The information from the studies has been published in a book called "How to Grow Fresh Air Plants" by B. C. Wolverton.

The research showed that the plants could remove VOC's (these come from cleaning products, carpets, off-gassing from foams and plastics), formaldehyde, benzene, pesticides, carbon monoxide.

Studies show that rooms filled with houseplants typically contain between 50% and 60% fewer mold spores and bacteria.

The top 10 Plants according to the research were:

1) Areca Palm 2) Lady Palm

3) Bamboo Palm 4) Rubber Plant
(Chamaedorea seifrizii) (Ficus Robusta)

5) Dracaena "Janet Craig" 6) Philodendron
(Dracaena deremensis) (Philodenddron sp.)

7) Dwarf Date Palm 8) Ficus Alii
(Phoenix roebelenii) (Ficus macleilandii "Alii")
