Trish Symons - Magical Moments
Trish Symons spoke on “Magical Moments” in the garden. So many little magical things happen in our gardens, do we take time to notice and enjoy them?
·
Do you have a spot where you can sit and witness
your sunrises and sunsets?
·
What windows do you spend a lot of time looking
out? Do you have something you love that you can see from that window?
·
Colour combinations can make a big difference on
how certain plants stand out. Lime green
helps other colours really stand out.
Observe and record combinations that work well.
·
Uncommon distinctive varieties can add a lot to
your garden. Golden hens and chicks,
Native Ontario Cactus, Elephant, Canna, fat spike amaranth, Wizard mix Coleus,
Eranthus (early winter garden flower)
·
Do you have safe places for little visitors to
your garden – birds, frogs, bugs, bees, butterflies. Do you have a place where you can sit and
enjoy seeing and hearing them.
·
Use trees and shrubs to create a presence and
colour and shape in every season.
Princeton Gold is one of her favourites.
Conifers give winter interest.
·
Create a beautiful entrance for a great first
impression.
·
Create special places by using large planters.
·
Have fun “features” like gazing balls, mirrors,
glass, glass gems in the tree branches
·
When photographing spider webs putting a piece
of black paper behind really showcases the delicate beauty.
·
When designing a new garden make the paths wide
enough for 3 people this gives you garden space for growth.
·
Take time to slow down and see your garden from
all angles
Here are some photos she shared.
